In May, the YMA went to the Phoenix Festival up in Catford’s Forster Park and spoke to young people about the kind of things that would make the area a better and more exciting place to live.
Lots of young people gave ideas, saying things like: more skate areas, access to free football nets and more safe spaces to hang out in, especially during winter. What do you think? Do you agree? Can you think of anything else?
When young people heard about the YMA’s aims to get youth leading community projects the vibe was positive. There’s a definite understanding that if young people are listened to and involved in decisions good things could happen.
Have a listen to Shane and Isabel in the films below. They both make a really good case for young people, sharing their ideas and passion.
Let’s start working together to get youth ideas heard and put into action!
